Safety - at the heart of all our thinking.

The Integral Safety Concept from Mercedes-Benz divides vehicle safety into four phases:

Phase 1: safe driving

Phase 2: in critical situations

Phase 3: in an accident

Phase 4: after an accident

To reduce consequential damage after an accident and support the work of the rescue services, a number of different actions are initiated, depending on the type and severity of the accident:

  • Best possible protection: the engine can be turned off automatically and the fuel supply can be cut off.
  • Eye-catching lighting: hazard and emergency interior lights can activate automatically to lower the risk of accidents and help locate the car.
  • Making escape easier: the door locking mechanism can be automatically released.
  • Improved rescue measures: Crash joints between the wing and the door to make opening the doors after a frontal collision easier.
  • Roadside assistance management: The likelihood of a breakdown in a Mercedes is remote - but speedy assistance will be near at hand. At the touch of a button, you can contact the Mercedes-Benz 24h Service facility and they will take care of the rest. An optimally equipped breakdown service vehicle will be dispatched to your aid - at any time of the day or night.
  • Accident Recovery: A call will be forwarded to the Mercedes-Benz Customer Center so as to set in train the emergency and vehicle recovery measures required following an accident as quickly as possible.
  • Helpful connection: When an emergency call has been sent out from the vehicle, either automatically or manually using the SOS button, the emergency call centre checks whether on-site assistance is required. In an emergency important relevant data such as the vehicle's GPS position coordinates will be forwarded to a public emergency response centre.
  • - In addition please note: The Mercedes Benz emergency call system is a permanent, fully automatic facility - provided for your safety. All other services are provided only with your express approval – which you grant by accepting the terms and conditions of use.
